The Yarn Crawl

Here's Crystal and Erica at our first stop - Sunflower Samplings in Crystal Lake.

Heres our second stop - Quitely Wilde Yarn in Woodstock... we enjoyed the big sign that says YARN - I should probably get one for my house.

Here's a picture of the Socks that Rock Display at The Fold in Marengo - I should have taken the picture before we took the yarn that we were buying off of the rack. I didn't take a picture of the outside of the shop because of the rain but I thought the socks that rock display was probably more what people would want to see anyways... Toni has a great variety of yarn and roving - she had tons of blue moon fiber arts yarn I should have
taken more picture here.

Here's a picture of the back entrance of the Yarn Exchange in Dekalb through a nice and rainy windshield - there's also a nice view of the back door of Lord Stanleys...

We also went to Wool and Company in Geneva but I didn't take any pictures because of the rain.
Our last stop was Fine Line - in St. Charles I didn't take any pictures their of yarn but I did take a picture of the minuature baskets they have on display there.

Here's what I bought at the Fold - Please note my excellent photography skills - I got Socks that Rock in peacock and ruby slippers, some yarn for latvian mittens and new needles for latvian mittens and socks that rock...

I have pictures of most of the other stuff I bought... 2 hanks of manos -some nature spun fingering weight, clasps for my cardigan, a new kacha-kacha counter, a book on knitting cupcakes but blogger doesn't seem to want to upload anymore.

Finally

Well it's finally Friday and almost time for a good old fashioned yarn crawl tomorrow - this has been even harder to wait for than spinning class. I started a baby blanket for Katrice and the baby girl to be born in June I got about 30 rows done so the blanket it about a 6 inch circle now. I don't have a picture of it because my batteries are charging for the yarn crawl tomorrow.
Here's the link to the blanket pattern in the meantime:

I'm using Cotton Tots in Pink and White from my stash (it's a miracle).
Edited to add - my progress from Friday.

The mitten book arrived

I start looking through the pages and the charts of Latvian Mittens last night. I think my brain started to turn into a puddle almost instantly. I'm hoping once I have needles and yarn in hand I'll understand...or maybe I'll need to find a Latvian knitter to come over and help me. I'm hoping to find some yarn this weekend on my little yarn tour or I'll order some next week.

Not much knitting

but I did make a little progress on my socks - I got the heel flap done on Sunday afternoon. I worked on turning the heel this morning and have all the stitches picked up but I didn't take another picture.. no other knitting got done this weekend but I'm fairly certain my friend Jesse is still in shock over the amount of yarn I have stashed under my bed... she'll get over it eventually I'm sure!

Knitting Olympics

So yesterday I broke down and joined the yarn harlot's knitting olympics. I'm trying to decide between sitcom chic and using the sisik I have to make a sweater of my own design - well it's not actually a design yet but I know what I want it to look like in my head.

I was also thinking I should figure out when the Olympics start...

2nd Sock

So I finally cast on my second sock.

and got about the first 15 rows done if I remember correctly. I think with all the notes I made when I knit the first sock this one should go pretty quickly and the ribbing looks so much better so far I kind of want to rip out the other socks ribbing and knit it again will see how it looks when they are both done and blocked. After this sock is done I solemnly swear to knit one of the sweaters that I have yarn for and for the February Charity Project for our knitting group once we decide what that will be!

Happy Wednesday

So not much knitting going on at my house - not much of anything but laying around and TV watching going on at my house to be honest. Gilmore Girls was good last night not great but good I love Mrs. Kim lately! The final of my Hershey Tshirts finally arrived yesterday - the Almond Joy sometimes you feel like a nut one - the one I really wanted was the one that took the longest to arrive. I'll take pictures of them and add them to the post this week sometimes. After making all my co-workers, friends and family eat candy bars I'm a little dissapointed they are cotton and rayon and on the thin side but I guess 5 of them were 55 wrappers and $7 so I shouldn't be too dissappointed.

Lots of Pictures

Here's a picture of sock number one finished on Friday night- pay no attention to the stark white leg - I'm sure it's just the camera.

Then Saturday I went and took my spinning class - and at the end of the first lesson I had this spun from pencil roving and plied. Crystal and Donna from the Lake County KTog were in the class too I posted picture of all our skeing on the KTog Blog.

And finally on Sunday I worked on my brothers stained glass repair. It still needs to be patinad but I fixed the frame so it's no longer mangled and I fixed the piece of glass that had cracked so next time I see him he can finally have it back.

Almost Spinning Time

So tomorrow is finally my spinning class - I'm excited and worried. I didn't finish my sock knitting because well I was laying on the couch not doing anything and cleaning up the house a bit. I realized my tinsel trees were still up and that since people were coming by tonight I should clean up a bit however the tinsel trees are still up. What can you do?

New Sock Photos

Here's my new and updated sock photos. You can almost see Brandy's sheepy stitch markers hanging down a little bit. I should finish this one tonight and then I can add one to the total for 200socks! Once I have all my stuff together the second sock should go pretty quickly I hope! I was hoping to finish them for Saturday to wear for spinning class but I don't think that will get done. I've spent too much time lately trying to reconfigure the TV/VCR/DVD/Tivo into a workable configuration instead of doing small things like cleaning the house and knitting socks (obviously was more important)

Sock update

Since the year is 200socks here's some sock progress I turned the heel and picked up the stitches and finished the gusset decreases over the weekend. The heel was eye of partridge I can't wait to have these finished and to be able to wear them... they'll probably be Saturday socks as they are a little bright : )
My cousin Lauren got married this weekend and between the church and reception we had time to go to a yarn store but I didn't have a car - I had four knitters around me and no one else wanted to go to a yarn store... I question their commitment.

Socks and Such

So I finally started working on old projects again. I took my sock to knitting meetup on Tuesday and knit about 15 more rows.
Some of the meetup folks are learning to knit socks this month so I took mine along to be part of the group :) I have a tendency to talk too much and not knit so much.
On other fronts I am finally getting a new stove. It was supposed to come tomorrow and instead they decided to bring it this afternoon but who knows why they changed the day? I think the old one was really ugly but couldn't bring myself to buy a new stove because it was ugly but when it broke it was time... so farewell... I also took a really good picture as you can tell. My kitchen is on the narrrow side so I couldn't get far enough away to get the whole thing.

Latvian Mittens

I ordered latvian mittens! it take 2-3 weeks to arrive though : ( I'm excited! I'll have to work on other projects and hopefully get a few off the needles before it arrives. I have a feeling that I am going to be knitting latvian mittens for quite some time!
I have spinning class on the 14th with Crystal I'm looking forward to that at Richmonds Wool Warp and Wheel.

how you're going to die quiz

*Slosh*
You will sink in a mire. You like to think you're
normal, but deep down you really just want to
strip off your clothes and roll around in
chicken fat.

What horrible Edward Gorey Death will you die?

Happy New Year

The year of the stocking is finally over -with 4 stockings completed. 3 for my nephews which are the same as my brothers and I have. And one for someone else's nephew
that I was hired to make - there are pictures of that one too but my camera batteries are dead.
I made my mom a partial mitten by Christmas Day and then I finished the rest on the 28th or 29th. They turned out really nice - but Sisik is a pretty yarn - hopefully she'll send me a picture soon.
