Zero Birthday

Here's Noah's Zero Birthday Cake ; ) He doesn't look so happy about it does he?

And for my knitting birthday (no cake for me) I bought the yarn harlot's 2nd book... my friend Barb refuses to call Stephanie the Yarn Harlot - she just says that yarn lady.... she's not a knitter and doesn't understand that it's okay to call her a harlot - she's actually a self-titled harlot.

Sheepies

Isn't this the cutest thing you've ever seen?
Don't you think I should have one? Christmas is coming...
here's the website: http://www.agrisupportonline.com/minisheep.htm Keep in mind you have to buy 2 or 3 or they get lonely....
I wonder if you can have sheep in Vernon Hills?

Felting

I made a little mitten to test felting out - I hand felted it while watching Little House on the Prairie - boy is my life exciting.

Before Felting:

Please notice I did the decreases in the wrong place and it makes the thumb funny...oops...

After Felting:

And the thumb may be a little larger than it should be - you can't tell how the decreases are in the wrong spot though.

So I beat my anniversary date - My 1 year knitting birthday is the 28th and I wanted to felt something before then so I may have cheated a little and done something little for the felting. So I've learned to knit, purl, increase, decrease, knit in the round on circulars, 2 circulars, and dpns, felt, knit lace, intarsia and fair isle... we'll see what's ahead for year 2.

A new movie for Mel?

Separated at birth? No disrespect to Mel seen with Vincente Fox after donating a $1 million for hurrican relief but what's with the beard?

Lace

Okay so here's my first shot at lace. It's supposed to be Branching out from knitty.com we'll see if it turns out to be a little something different. The first repeat is slightly askew. I'm sure it will block out fine...or no one will notice it being off center because the rest is so perfect... Yep pretty sure that will happen. The yarn is Kid-Soft by GGH.

The Yarn Harlot

In Chicago (finally) on Saturday October 1st at Arcadia Knitting...
Here we are together with our socks. I am the biggest nerd alive.
I really wanted to bring her a treat because I find her so entertaining so I went and bought her Wasabi peas. However once I was halfway there and reached into the bag to get my own candy out I realized there was a problem...

Yes that's right a big slit in the bag... so Stephanie got no Wasabi peas.
