A boy and his yarn

In an attempt to distract from the fact that I haven't finished the scarf I've been working on I present my nephew here photographed with his first ball of yarn. I went shopping with my SIL and the munchkins and I gave this to him to hold while we were shopping in the store - when it was time to leave he didn't want to give it up so I bought him his very first yarn (Lion Brand Suede in Olive) he held it in his car seat while we drove to the next store and played with it when we got back to my house. He can even say yarn (he can't say my name but I'm choosing not to believe he likes the yarn better than me). After a few strands were pulled loose we wound it on the ball winder and he took it home with him.

2nd Birthday

My 2nd knitting birthday is tomorrow what a reason to celebrate...
Last year at this time I was hurrying to try some new techniques before the 1st year had passed this year in all my wisdom I decided instead to just try and work on the projects I've started. I haven't even finished working on the branching out scarf I started last year to try out lace I think it's been ripped out about 3 dozen times but what fun would it be to rip out your knitting if it wasn't mohair!

when you can't find something

you need to start three of your four christmas projects the ideal thing to do is to start something for yourself - so I started making a scarf (you would think the 2nd sock would have been a good option or the 4th of my christmas projects which I have everything for but no a new project it is)

The yarn is Manos Bramble I think the colorway is 114 but I'm not 100% positive. Everytime I would knit a few rows I would have to stop and admire the beauty of the yarn it's so pretty perfect colors. I may need to buy more.

a small victory

I finished sock #1 after only like 21/2 short

months. I really like the jaywalker pattern. I think if I was going to make them again (always a possibility) that I would do them with self striping instead of variegated yarn so they would be more fun.

I still need to Kitchner the toe but I didn't really feel like doing it last night - but I will have to do it tonight so I can officially start my Christmas projects. I have only 4 to knit so that's not too bad but it just seems like a lot...

progress

here's an updated photo of my jaywalker socks - I got quite a bit down when I was waiting for the Sears repairman to show for 5 hours before they decided to call me and tell me he wasn't showing at all but I could wait another week for an appointment because they screwed up brilliant customer service - along with being hung up on and yelled at by their people it was an all around great experience.....
highly recommend it to anyone who would like to make their head throb and be angry to the point of wanting to break things with baseball bats (lucky I don't have one)

little or nothing

That's what I've been knitting - I actually have gotten to the heel flop on the jaywalker socks after about 2 months of working on them - but I didn't take a picture... I haven't posted much since I've been back from vacation. Work has been a little crazy and annoying as well as everything in my house being broken (furnace, phone, and dryer) so I've been meeting with various and assorted repair people and today is dryer day so that should be exciting we'll see if the dryer can be fixed or if I'll need to get a whole new washer and dryer set.

Germany

Here's the yarn store in Heidelberg, and two British men who were waiting for their wives outside - the ladies were looking for a pattern to make one of the sample jumpers in the store. I bought some sock yarn that was made for the stores label... and you can also see the bag of cola gummies I got next to the yarn on the table...

My other exciting purchase was this adorable stuffed sheep made by a mission group in Poland he's so nice and soft.

I even saw so live sheep grazing near the Heidelberg castle on the hill near the gardens.

Sheep TV

Instead of talking about my trip to Germany I'm going to talk about how much I want this....
and I know it's stupid and ridiculous and I'm not really going to buy it but if anyone wants to get me anything this would be a good option....
